Shelly Pro 3EM v2 Energy Meter + 3x 120A Clamps
Code: PRO-3EM-V2-120ARelated products
Product detailed description
Next-Generation Three-Phase Energy Meter
Shelly Pro 3EM 120A v2 is a 3-phase energy meter designed for DIN rail mounting in switchboards. The device measures voltage, current, active and apparent power, and energy on each phase individually, with a measurement accuracy of 1% (Class B active energy accuracy according to IEC 62053-21). Thanks to contactless current transformers (CTs), it installs without wire cutting or circuit interruption.
Compared to the previous generation, v2 introduces new features such as Modbus support, longer local data storage (up to 60 days), an enhanced firmware platform, and mTLS security support – making it easier to integrate into industrial and building automation systems.

This energy meter can handle current measurements up to 120 A per phase and neutral, supporting 4-quadrant measurement – so it not only tracks energy consumption, but also precisely records generated energy, such as energy flow in a photovoltaic system. Featuring phase sequence error detection, the device also alerts you to incorrect wiring.
Shelly Pro 3EM communicates via Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth, features a built-in web interface, and supports MQTT, HTTP, WebSocket, and scripting – allowing you to build automations fully locally, without relying on the cloud. The built-in real-time clock maintains accurate time logs even during internet outages. Note: The 3-phase energy meter does not have a built-in relay – if you also require load switching (e.g., a contactor), expand it with the Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-on.
The device stores measured data in non-volatile memory with 1-minute resolution for at least 45–60 days, and data can be exported via CSV or JSON format using RPC. If you are looking to measure energy consumption and achieve real savings, this energy meter provides a precise, long-term overview of energy usage in your home or business premises.
Who is Shelly Pro 3EM 120A v2 intended for
- For photovoltaic system owners who want to accurately track generation and consumption to optimize self-consumption.
- For households with an EV charger needing to monitor phase loads and prevent circuit breaker overloads.
- For apartment buildings, hotels, and multi-dwelling units (MDUs) where individual circuits are measured.
- For small businesses, offices, farms, or warehouses seeking full visibility over energy costs.
- For advanced users of Home Assistant, ioBroker, openHAB, or Node-RED who want to process data further via MQTT or REST API.
- For technicians and building automation integrators requiring Modbus and industrial integration.
Use Cases
- PV System Monitoring: Real-time tracking of energy generated by solar panels versus energy consumed or fed into the grid.
- EV Charging Control based on Solar Production: With its scripting engine and webhooks, Pro 3EM can automatically adjust EV charging according to solar power surplus.
- Apartment/Office Power Measurement: Set up tracking for individual circuits in a single-phase installation to identify energy-hungry appliances.
- Overload Protection: Simultaneous measurement across all three phases helps avoid phase imbalance and tripped breakers.
- Industrial and Building Integration: Native Modbus support allows direct connection to existing SCADA/BMS systems.
- Cloud-Free Remote Supervision: Run entire automations locally over LAN, MQTT, or HTTP API.

Why Choose Shelly Pro 3EM 120A v2
- Accurate Billing-Grade Measurement Instead of Estimates. Class B accuracy according to IEC 62053-21 and ±1% accuracy within the 2–120 A range mean the data is reliable enough for cost allocation or evaluating solar return on investment.
- 4-Quadrant Measurement Across All Three Phases and Neutral. See both consumed power and surplus power exported to the grid – essential for properly optimizing solar and battery systems.
- Open and Fully Local. REST API, MQTT, WebSocket, and Modbus, alongside Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and TLS/mTLS security. The meter operates cloud-free, keeping your data private and making integration into Home Assistant, ioBroker, or BMS platforms a matter of minutes.
- Data Preserved During Internet Outages. Up to 60 days of 1-minute logs are saved directly on the device and exportable to CSV or JSON.
Compared to the first generation Shelly PRO 3EM + 3 clamps, you get native Modbus support, extended local data storage, a new firmware platform, and mTLS security – essential features for industrial and energy system integration.
If your switchboard handles higher current loads than the 120 A clamps support, opt for the Shelly PRO 3EM + 3 400A Clamps variant. For standard homes, photovoltaics, and small businesses, the 120 A version is the ideal and more cost-effective choice. If you need load switching in addition to monitoring, add the Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-On.

Shelly products at the best prices
The Shelly brand is probably the most groundbreaking brand in the field of smart home products these days. New products that come out of this manufacturer's workshop every month complement smart homes not only on the WiFi protocol, but also on Z-Wave. Shelly has everything from relays, dimmers and sensors to energy consumption meters in its portfolio.
Among the very distinctive products of this brand are Shelly Mini modules, which are the smallest modules on the market. They are available in both WiFi and Z-Wave versions.
