Product detailed description

Four-Channel Wi-Fi Relay Module with RF 433 MHz and NO/NC Contacts for the Tuya App 📲

This 4-channel Wi-Fi relay is a universal switching module that turns an ordinary device into a smart device you control from your phone. It has four independent relays, each with COM, NO and NC contacts, so it can both close and open a circuit. You control it through the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app, by voice with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, and thanks to the built-in RF 433 MHz receiver also with a classic remote control, without internet.

You power the module either with 5 V via micro USB or with 7 to 32 V AC/DC on the terminal block. The outputs are galvanically isolated from the power supply, so each channel switches a potential-free (dry) contact or a load of up to 10 A at 90 to 250 V AC or 0 to 30 V DC. It is an ideal basis for controlling gates, electric locks, pumps, lighting or small motors.

Unlike relays powered directly from the 230 V mains, this Wi-Fi switch module is designed mainly for low-voltage installations: 12 or 24 V gate control boxes, cars, caravans, solar systems, garage or workshop wiring. A phone charger, a 12 V or 24 V AC/DC power supply or the voltage already available in the gate control unit is all it needs. It connects to your 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi network and needs no hub or gateway.

Each channel can work in two basic modes. In self-locking mode the relay stays on until you switch it off. In inching (pulse) mode it returns to its original state by itself after switching, after 1 second by default, adjustable in the app from 1 to 3600 seconds. A pulse is exactly what most gate operators, door openers and electric locks need: it replaces pressing a button. In the app you can also enable interlock mode, in which two channels cannot be on at the same time. Use it, for example, to drive a DC or AC motor back and forth for blinds or awnings.

The NO (normally open) and NC (normally closed) contacts give you freedom when wiring. With COM and NO the circuit is open at rest and the relay closes it when switched on, the classic choice for switching a light or triggering a gate. With COM and NC the circuit is closed at rest and the relay opens it. This is how some gate openers or safety circuits that react to an interrupted circuit work.

Besides control from your phone, the Tuya app offers schedules (daily and weekly), countdown, cycle timer, automatic switch-off after a set time, sharing control with your family and scenes and automations with other Tuya devices. The relay can switch on, for example, when a sensor detects motion or the temperature drops below a set value. If you already have other Tuya Wi-Fi products at home, you add this smart relay to the same app and create shared automations with them.

The built-in RF 433 MHz receiver learns the codes of compatible 433 MHz remotes and wall RF switches, for example the Sonoff RF remote control with four buttons, where each button controls one channel. RF control works locally, so you can open the gate even when the internet is down. The board also has buttons for manual channel control and pairing.

The module comes as an open circuit board with IP20 protection (see photos), so place it in a suitable installation box or control cabinet. You can mount it on a DIN rail with an adapter sold separately. Installation requires knowledge of electrical engineering. When switching 230 V mains voltage, we recommend having it wired by a professional.

Who is this Wi-Fi relay for

  • Owners of garage and driveway gates who want to open the gate from their phone and keep their remote control.

  • Amazon Alexa and Google Home: voice on/off control of individual channels after linking your Tuya account.
  • Home Assistant and other systems: native support is not listed by the manufacturer. It is a cloud-based Tuya device, we have not yet verified integration with other systems.
  • Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread, Matter: not supported. If you are looking for a Zigbee version, see the SmartWise 4-Channel Zigbee Relay.

Why choose this 4-channel Wi-Fi relay

  • Four channels for the price of one device: one board controls a gate, a pedestrian gate, a light and a pump.
  • Low-voltage power supply 5 to 32 V: ideal where 230 V is not available or you do not want to run it.
  • Phone and remote control: Wi-Fi from anywhere, RF 433 MHz locally, even when the internet is down.
  • NO and NC contacts and adjustable pulse: connects to almost any gate operator or lock.

Compared to the Sonoff 4CH R3 4-gang Wi-Fi relay, which is powered from 100 to 240 V mains and controlled via the eWeLink app, you get a low-voltage power supply, NO/NC contacts and an RF 433 MHz receiver, a better fit for gates and 12/24 V installations. If you use a Zigbee gateway, choose the SmartWise 4-Channel Zigbee Relay instead.

Frequently asked questions

How do I power the relay, do I need a 230 V supply? +

No. You power the module either with 5 V via micro USB (an ordinary phone charger is enough) or with 7 to 32 V AC or DC on the terminal block, for example from a 12 V or 24 V power supply or from the gate control unit. Do not connect 230 V directly to the module.

Can I use the relay to switch 230 V appliances? +

Yes. The switched circuit is isolated from the module power supply, so each channel can switch 90 to 250 V AC or 0 to 30 V DC up to 10 A. When working with mains voltage, we recommend wiring by an electrician and placing the board in a box or control cabinet.

What is the difference between NO and NC contacts? +

NO (normally open) is open at rest and connects to COM when the relay switches on. NC (normally closed) is connected to COM at rest and opens when the relay switches on. For most gates and lights use COM and NO, NC is useful where the device reacts to an interrupted circuit.

How do I wire the relay to open a garage gate from my phone? +

Connect the COM and NO terminals of one channel in parallel to the button or START/STEP input of the gate operator and set the channel to inching mode in the app, for example 1 second. The relay then replaces pressing the button. You can often power the module directly from the 12 V or 24 V output of the gate control unit.

Will the app show whether the gate is open or closed? +

No. The relay only shows the state of its channel (on or off), not the actual position of the gate. To see the gate status, combine the relay with a door/window sensor in the Tuya app and show it through scenes or notifications.

Does the relay work without internet? +

Yes, partly. The buttons on the board and RF 433 MHz remotes work locally without internet. Remote control from your phone, cloud schedules and voice assistants require an internet connection via Wi-Fi.

Which 433 MHz remote controls are compatible? +

The relay learns codes of 433 MHz fixed-code remotes, for example the Sonoff RF remote control (RM433), Sonoff RF4CR or SmartWise RF4P, and RF wall switches. Rolling-code remotes used by original gate remote controls cannot be learned.

Why does the relay fail to pair with the Tuya app? +

The most common cause is a 5 GHz network. The module only supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, so connect your phone to the 2.4 GHz network during pairing and check the password. Pairing closer to the router, Bluetooth and location enabled on the phone and a sufficiently strong power supply also help.

Can the relay control a motor in two directions? +

Yes. With suitable wiring of two channels and interlock mode enabled, you can turn a DC or AC motor back and forth. The interlock prevents both directions from being on at the same time.

Does the relay come in an enclosure and can it be mounted on a DIN rail? +

The module is an open board with IP20 protection, without an enclosure and without a power supply. Place it in an installation box or control cabinet. You can mount it on a DIN rail with an adapter sold separately.

How is it different from a 230 V powered Wi-Fi relay? +

Relays like the Sonoff 4CH are powered directly from 230 V mains and are mainly suited for switching household appliances. This module is powered by low voltage of 5 to 32 V, has both NO and NC contacts and an RF receiver, so it is better suited for gates, locks, 12/24 V systems and places without 230 V.

Does the relay work with Amazon Alexa and Google Home? +

Yes. After linking your Tuya Smart or Smart Life account with Alexa or Google Home, each channel appears as a separate switch you can control by voice or add to routines.
