Nous E17 Wi-Fi smart smoke detector: fire alerts straight to your phone

The Nous E17 is a Wi-Fi smoke sensor that, when it detects smoke, sounds a loud siren of at least 85 dB, flashes a light signal and sends you an alert to your phone. You will know about a fire even when you are not at home, whether you are at work, on holiday or at your cottage.

Unlike Zigbee detectors, it connects directly to your 2.4 GHz home Wi-Fi network, so you do not need any gateway or hub. Just pair it in the Nous Smart Home or Tuya Smart / Smart Life app, stick or screw it to the ceiling and you are done.

Photoelectric sensor and triple alarm

At the heart of the device is a photoelectric smoke sensor. An infrared beam shines inside the measuring chamber, and when smoke enters, the light scatters on the particles and the detector triggers the alarm. This principle is especially sensitive to slow, smouldering fires (such as an overheated cable, upholstery or a forgotten cigarette) that produce a lot of smoke long before a flame appears or the temperature rises noticeably.

The alarm works in three ways at once: a siren of at least 85 dB (measured at 3 m), an LED light signal and a push notification in the app. The loud sound wakes sleeping residents, while the notification alerts you even when you are hundreds of kilometres away.

Phone alerts without a gateway

Most conventional smoke alarms only beep inside the flat, where nobody hears them if nobody is home. The Nous E17 is connected to the internet via Wi-Fi, so every alarm instantly reaches you as a notification in the Nous Smart Home app (Android and iOS). You can share the device with other family members so everyone is alerted at once, for example neighbours or parents who have a key and can step in quickly.

The app also shows the battery status and alarm history. The detector supports the Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice assistants, and in the app you can add it to automations with other Nous devices, for example turning on the lights or closing a smart gas valve when the alarm goes off.

Years of battery life and a long lifespan

The smart smoke detector is powered by a replaceable CR123A lithium battery, which is included. Thanks to low power consumption it lasts 3 to 5 years, and the app warns you in good time when it is running low. When it is time to replace it, you can get a spare from us too, for example Energizer CR123A batteries. According to the manufacturer, the detector itself lasts more than 10 years.

Compact design and mounting in minutes

Measuring just 52 × 52 mm, the Nous E17 is one of the smallest fire alarms on the market and is barely noticeable on the ceiling. The housing is made of flame-retardant plastic with a glossy finish. You can fix it with screws and wall plugs (included) or with 3M double-sided tape, so no drilling is needed, which tenants will especially appreciate.

After mounting, press the test button: the siren must sound. We also recommend testing it at least once a month. If the alarm does not sound, do not use the detector and contact us.
