Universal Z-Wave module Nice Smart-Control: smart features for ordinary wired devices

Nice Smart-Control is a small universal Z-Wave module with a built-in temperature sensor that turns ordinary wired devices into a fully fledged part of your smart home. Connect a gate operator, alarm panel, thermostat, boiler, binary or analogue sensors and control them remotely from the Yubii Home app or from any certified Z-Wave controller.

With dimensions of only 29 x 18 x 13 mm, it fits into a wall box, a gate operator housing or next to an alarm panel, so you don't need to change your existing installation, just extend it.

Two inputs and two outputs for real automation

The module has 2 inputs that you configure according to what you connect: an NC or NO alarm input, a monostable or bistable button, or an analogue 0 to 10 V input (2-wire or 3-wire sensor). Two potential-free outputs (max. 150 mA, 30 V DC or 20 V AC) switch external circuits, for example the impulse input of a gate operator, a boiler input or a blind control unit.

The outputs can work independently of the inputs, or you can link them to the inputs. Each output has an auto-off function adjustable from 0.1 seconds up to 45 minutes, so you can easily turn it into an impulse for a gate or garage door. You can switch the output logic (NO or NC) with a parameter, without rewiring.

Temperature and humidity: built-in sensor and external probes

Smart-Control has a built-in temperature sensor and its separate 1-wire input lets you connect up to 6 DS18B20 temperature probes or 1 DHT22 temperature and humidity sensor. A DS18B20 probe in a protective housing can be placed in the floor, in concrete, in a damp environment or even under water, for example in a buffer tank, water heater, swimming pool or heating pipe. The probe cable can be up to 3 m long. Ready-made probes are available as temperature sensors for Smart Implant.

Values are sent to the controller when they change by a set amount (0.5 °C by default) or periodically. This turns the module into a Z-Wave temperature sensor for several locations at once, or together with an output into a complete smart boiler thermostat..

Secure and stable Z-Wave network

As a Z-Wave Plus device it supports S0 (AES-128) and S2 Authenticated encryption and inclusion via SmartStart by scanning a QR code. Because it is permanently powered, it also works as a Z-Wave signal repeater and strengthens the whole network. The range is up to 40 m indoors and up to 50 m outdoors, depending on the building structure. The inputs can trigger scenes directly (Central Scene) and, through associations, control up to 5 other Z-Wave devices per input, even without the controller.

• FIBARO Home Center 3 and Home Center 3 Lite: officially supported by the manufacturer, the module works with Home Center 3 and Home Center 3 Lite.
• Other Z-Wave controllers (e.g. Home Assistant with Z-Wave JS, Homey): as a certified Z-Wave Plus device it should work with them too, but the range of exposed functions depends on the controller's support. The manufacturer guarantees full functionality with Yubii and FIBARO HC3.
• Frequency: the EU version (868.4 MHz) must use the same frequency as your controller.
