Aqara Zigbee Flood Sensor

Right out of the box, it's clear that the sensor is quite compact, measuring just 50 × 50 × 15 mm (1.97 × 1.97 × 0.59 inches). The main body of the device is made of plastic, which is also glossier, likely making it more water-resistant. At the top of the device is a simple "water drop" icon, which matches the design aesthetic of other sensors (temperature/humidity sensors and vibration sensors).

The base features two “Hex socket” contact sensors, which can be extended using a hex screwdriver. It also employs a waterproof seal to protect the battery and internal components from water damage. This sensor uses a standard CR2032 coin cell battery, which is widely available, and according to Aqara, the battery should last up to 2 years under normal conditions.

Waterproof Rating IP67 - The Aqara flood sensor meets the IP67 rating for dust and water resistance, ensuring it will function in damp and dusty environments. The sensor is designed to be placed anywhere you need, enhancing your home with its sleek design. It’s suitable for placement in living rooms, basements, kitchens, or even on balconies.

The device is compatible with HomeKit, but only if you have an Aqara hub. You'll also need the Aqara or Mi Home app. Provided you have these, setting up and pairing the device is straightforward. The sensor communicates with the Aqara hub via Zigbee, while the hub itself connects to your network (and, by extension, HomeKit) using Wi-Fi.

Aqara Flood Sensor in Home Automation

With our set of smart home products, you can create various automation scenes. For instance, you can set up a scene to automatically shut off the water if a leak is detected. The Aqara Flood Sensor will activate, and the Aqara Smart Plug will immediately turn off the water valve. This scene requires a water valve and an Aqara Smart Plug.

The sensor triggers an alarm when it detects flooding, for example, if the water level reaches 0.5 mm. The flood sensor will activate the Aqara hub, which will then send an alarm and notify your phone.

Advanced Technology

The exterior casing is made from anti-UV material, which protects the sensor from discoloration. Additionally, the sensor is energy-efficient, with a single battery lasting over 2 years under normal use.
