Sonoff WS01TPE-E (Orb Socket Type E) is a Type E smart wall socket, meaning it has the earth pin commonly used in Slovakia and the Czech Republic. You install it in place of a standard socket in the wall box, turning an ordinary outlet into a smart socket that you can switch on, switch off and schedule from your phone, by voice or through automations.

The socket communicates via Matter over Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), so you can add it to Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings and Home Assistant without being locked into a single ecosystem. It also measures consumption in real time, calculates the cost of electricity and handles loads of up to 16 A / 4000 W. If an appliance exceeds the limits you set, the socket switches it off automatically.

Avoid a mix-up: Sonoff sells the same socket in two versions. WS01TPE-E is Type E (the French, Czech and Slovak standard with an earth pin in the socket), while WS01TPF-E is Type F (Schuko, with side earth clips, common for example in Germany and Austria). This page is exclusively for the Type E version, also listed as model WS01TPEE.

A flush-mounted smart socket that looks like a regular one

Unlike a plug-in smart plug (adapter) that sticks out and gets in the way, the Orb Socket smart wall socket is built right into the wall. The clean 86 × 86 mm square frame with a touch button in the corner blends into a modern interior, and nobody will notice it is a Wi-Fi socket. You can also switch it on or off with the button right on the socket, without your phone.

The Orb Socket is part of the Sonoff Fusion design series, which also includes Matter and Zigbee switches and blind controllers. With Fusion double and triple frames (sold separately) you can build a uniform row of switches and sockets in the same design.

Energy monitoring and electricity cost calculation

In the eWeLink app you can see voltage, current, current power draw and consumed energy in real time. Daily, monthly and half-year overviews are shown in clear charts. Once you enter your own price per kWh, the smart socket with energy monitoring calculates how much running the appliance costs you. When you swap appliances, you can reset the statistics with a single tap and start measuring again.

Detailed energy and cost monitoring is available in the eWeLink app. In Home Assistant and SmartThings you see the current power draw via Matter; Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa only show on and off (details in the Protocols and compatibility section below).

Overload and overcharge protection

The socket is rated for 16 A and 4000 W of resistive load. In the app you set your own limits for current (up to 16 A), voltage and power, and when a connected appliance exceeds them, overload protection switches it off automatically. This is useful for an oil-filled radiator or another high-power appliance.

The overcharge protection feature monitors charging power, and when it drops below the set threshold (the battery is full), it switches the socket off. Your phone, laptop, e-bike or cordless tools will not sit on the charger all night, which saves both the battery and energy.

The design adds to safety too: a flame-retardant PC housing, surge protection, a child safety lock, a relay rated for 20,000 switching cycles and durability verified by a salt spray test. The socket is CE and RoHS certified.

Schedules, scenes and notifications

You control the socket according to your daily routine: one-off and repeating timers, a cycle mode (for example an air purifier runs for 4 hours and then rests for 2 hours) and random switching that makes it look like someone is home while you are on holiday. With smart scenes you also get a notification when an appliance has finished, for example when the kettle has boiled and the power draw drops to zero.

Local control and voice commands

The socket supports local control: even if the internet or the cloud goes down, you can still control it on your home network via eWeLink (LAN mode) and Matter. You can switch it on by voice with Siri, Google Assistant or Alexa; for this you need the corresponding smart speaker or hub.

• Wi-Fi: IEEE 802.11 b/g/n, 2.4 GHz band only (5 GHz networks are not supported).
