Nous A11Z is a Zigbee 3.0 smart power strip that turns ordinary appliances into smart devices without any changes to your wiring. It has three sockets that you switch on and off individually, it continuously monitors energy consumption and handles loads of up to 16 A. Simply plug it in instead of an ordinary power strip and pair it with a Zigbee gateway.

Because it is mains powered, it also works as a Zigbee router: it relays the signal to other devices and extends the range of your mesh network. You control it via the NOUS Smart app, by voice through Amazon Alexa or Google Home, or in Home Assistant via Zigbee2MQTT.

The biggest advantage over an ordinary power strip is that each of the three sockets has its own channel. In the app you see them as three separate switches, so you can, for example, keep the router on all the time, switch the TV off at night and run a charger for just a few hours. You can also name them and add them to different scenes and automations.

This Zigbee power strip communicates via the Zigbee 3.0 standard (IEEE 802.15.4), which is energy efficient, does not congest your Wi-Fi network and keeps working locally through the gateway even when the internet is down. To use it you need a Zigbee gateway, for example the Nous E15 Zigbee and Wi-Fi gateway, or a Zigbee coordinator for Home Assistant.

Besides switching on and off instantly, you can set a countdown (up to 12 hours) and recurring schedules for each socket. The power-on behaviour setting is also useful: after power is restored, the socket stays off, switches on, or returns to its last state. You can share control with other members of your household.

Energy monitoring shows the current power in watts, voltage, current and total consumption in kWh. Measurement is shared for the whole power strip (the sum of all three sockets), so it is ideal for tracking a whole group of appliances, such as your desk or TV corner. You instantly see how much your setup draws in standby and can disconnect it automatically when not in use.

Safety is supported by overcurrent protection and a housing made of flame-retardant PC + ABS plastic (V0 class). With the physical button on the power strip you can control it without your phone, and with the child lock you can disable the button in the app so curious kids do not switch off your router. Protocols and compatibility

• Zigbee 3.0 (IEEE 802.15.4): requires a Zigbee gateway; without one the power strip only works as an ordinary strip with a button. The manufacturer recommends a NOUS gateway, in our range for example the Nous E15. All Zigbee devices must be supported by the gateway you use.
• NOUS Smart app (Tuya): full control of the sockets, timers, schedules, energy monitoring and sharing. Requires iOS 8 / Android 4.4 or newer.
• Home Assistant via Zigbee2MQTT: officially supported, with three switches, countdown, power-on behaviour, child lock, LED indicator and measurement of power, voltage, current and energy. As a coordinator you can use, for example, the Nous E16 Zigbee2MQTT USB dongle or the SMLIGHT SLZB-06p7. The manufacturer does not state support in the ZHA integration.
• Homey and SmartThings: the manufacturer states compatibility; the range of features depends on the specific integration.
• Amazon Alexa and Google Home: voice control after linking your NOUS Smart account.
• Energy monitoring: shared for the whole power strip, not separately for each socket.
