Product detailed description
Zigbee DIN Rail Module with 32 A Switching and Power Monitoring
Sonoff Basic DIN Rail ZB1GSP is a smart Zigbee DIN rail relay designed to fit directly into your breaker panel right behind the circuit breaker. It controls a single heavy-duty circuit up to 32 A and 7680 W while monitoring voltage, current, real-time power, and total energy consumption – making it ideal for EV chargers, underfloor heating, heat pumps, or water heaters.

Unlike standard plug-in relays, this Zigbee DIN rail switch is permanently installed in your electrical wiring – occupying just one module space (18 mm). It is suitable for both apartments and houses where you want power monitoring and protection built straight into the breaker box rather than at the wall outlet. Communicating via Zigbee 3.0, it also acts as a Zigbee router, extending the mesh network coverage for other Zigbee devices in your home – allowing seamless integration with devices from the Zigbee category into a unified system.

A crucial safety aspect is its double-pole switching – the DIN relay simultaneously disconnects both Live and Neutral wires, ensuring the circuit is completely physically isolated from the mains during maintenance or faults. Standard single-pole relays only disconnect the Live wire while leaving Neutral energized, which is far less safe for high-power applications. Contacts feature a solid copper structure, and the enclosure is built from flame-retardant UL94 V-0 class PC plastic.

The module features configurable thresholds for overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, and overload (current up to 32 A) – when a circuit operates outside safe parameters, the relay trips automatically, and you can remotely turn it back on once the issue is resolved. Historical consumption data can be viewed in the eWeLink app daily, weekly, monthly, or over the last 180 days with export support. Note that currency cost calculation (Electricity Bill Tracking) is not available in this Zigbee version – that feature is exclusive to the sister Wi-Fi/Matter version BASIC-1GSP, though energy consumption in kWh, current, voltage, and power are monitored with the same level of detail by the ZB1GSP.

How the Basic DIN Rail is Wired
The module mounts onto a standard 35 mm DIN rail and is wired between the electricity meter, main breaker (air switch), and the powered load circuits – always downstream of a circuit breaker or RCD rated at max. 32 A. L and N conductors must be connected strictly according to terminal markings, as reversing them can damage the module and create hazards. Wiring, maintenance, and troubleshooting must be performed by a qualified electrician with the power switched off.
Who is this Product For
- For households wanting to monitor and protect a specific high-power circuit (EV charger, water heater, heating) directly from the breaker panel.
- For advanced Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT users who prefer local control without cloud reliance.
- For smart homes with mixed-brand devices looking to strengthen their Zigbee mesh network with an additional router.
- For electricians and installers setting up energy metering during distribution board upgrades.
- For users who already have a Zigbee gateway and prefer not to introduce additional Wi-Fi devices into their network.
Use Cases
- EV charger power monitoring – track exactly how much energy your EV charger consumes each month.
- Underfloor heating circuit protection – automatically disconnects the load if power limits are exceeded.
- Remote power reset for water heaters or heat pumps following power outages, without needing access to the breaker box.
- Energy tracking for heavy kitchen appliances – gain clear insights into power costs without standalone sub-meters.
- Power-based automations – receive alerts when power draw on a major appliance spikes above normal levels.

Smart Home Compatibility
Running on the standard Zigbee 3.0 protocol (TLSR8656 chip, Router role), the module seamlessly integrates with various Zigbee gateways and open platforms. With a SONOFF hub (ZBBridge-P, ZBBridge-U, NSPanel Pro, iHost), it connects natively in the eWeLink app. Using coordinators like the SONOFF ZBDongle-P/-E, it connects to Home Assistant (via ZHA) or Zigbee2MQTT, supporting switching, power-on state configurations, real-time voltage/current/power metrics, and protection limit settings. With a local Zigbee coordinator, the relay works fully offline without internet access.
Integrates into Apple Home via a Matter Bridge (e.g., SONOFF ZBBridge-U or eWeLink CUBE), into Google Home and Amazon Alexa through eWeLink account linking, and supports Samsung SmartThings alongside IFTTT automations.

Smart Features
Beyond remote switching and power tracking, the module supports scheduled timers, countdown timers, loop timers, and inching (automatically reverting to the opposite state after a set duration, from 0.5 seconds up to nearly 24 hours) – ideal for automatically turning off a water heater once heating is complete.
