Product detailed description
⚡️ Protect Your Devices with the Shelly RC Snubber Voltage Spike Absorber
The Shelly RC Snubber is a crucial safety accessory for your Shelly smart relays. It is highly recommended to be installed whenever you are wiring and switching inductive loads such as electric motors, bathroom exhaust fans, vacuum cleaners, washing machines, industrial contactors, and various high-power transformers (such as power adapters for LED lighting strips, laptops, or monitors).
These inductive appliances contain internal coils that, during the exact moments of being switched on or off, can generate massive and uncontrolled voltage spikes that rebound back into the home's electrical grid. If the appliance manufacturer failed to properly engineer internal protection against these voltage fluctuations, these violent spikes will surge directly into the delicate electronics of your Shelly smart module. In practice, this causes extremely frustrating electrical glitches. The most common symptom of this problem is random, spontaneous turning on/off (chattering) or unwanted automatic reboots of your Shelly relay—and in extreme cases, it can lead to the permanent burnout of the relay switch itself.
To prevent such hardware damage and technical headaches, this tiny energy absorber—the Shelly RC Snubber (0.1 μF / 100 Ω / 1/2 W / 600 V AC)—must be wired in parallel into the circuit, placed specifically between the switched phase output of the relay (L Out) and the neutral wire (N), just before the appliance itself.
How Does the Shelly RC Snubber Work in Practice?
The primary purpose of an RC (Resistor-Capacitor) snubber circuit is to physically dampen, absorb, or entirely neutralize the huge, lightning-fast voltage spikes produced by the inductive coils of appliances as the energy bounces back toward the switch. It acts as a tiny energy-absorbing sponge that "swallows" the dangerous voltage spike, thereby protecting the smart module's printed circuit board from the electrical shock.
- Ideal Placement in the Circuit: This miniature component is installed in parallel with the connected load—meaning one leg connects to the switched live output (coming from the relay) and the other leg connects directly to the Neutral (N) wire.
- Common Examples of Affected Devices: If, after you press a wall switch, you notice your smart relay starts clicking rapidly, the fan turns off and then immediately back on, or the relay drops off your Wi-Fi network (because it is rebooting), the appliance you are controlling (e.g., a toilet exhaust fan or a garage door motor) is producing inductive spikes. Wiring this RC snubber into the circuit will solve the issue instantly.
Compatibility with Shelly Modules
The Shelly RC Snubber has been rigorously tested and is primarily compatible (but not exclusively) with the following devices: Shelly 1, Shelly 1PM, Shelly 2.5, the new Shelly Plus 1 series, Shelly Plus 1PM, the Shelly PRO 4PM line, Shelly PRO 1/2, and many others.

Shelly products at the best prices
The Shelly brand is probably the most groundbreaking brand in the field of smart home products these days. New products that come out of this manufacturer's workshop every month complement smart homes not only on the WiFi protocol, but also on Z-Wave. Shelly has everything from relays, dimmers and sensors to energy consumption meters in its portfolio.
Among the very distinctive products of this brand are Shelly Mini modules, which are the smallest modules on the market. They are available in both WiFi and Z-Wave versions.
