This sensor from the well-known company STEINEL brings not only the option to power the sensor using 230V, but also the high quality of the sensor itself with the benefit of a built-in relay.

The sensor package contains everything needed for its use as well as various brochures from STEINEL.

The sensor itself belongs to the larger ones, which we can easily understand in this case. Since the tracking field of this sensor itself reaches up to 14 meters and 140 degrees. This distance is almost double compared to the motion sensor from Fibaro or other comparable sensors. Also thanks to this, this sensor is intended for outdoor use, where its range can cover a larger part of the garden than another sensor.

After installation, the motion sensor from STEINEL can be aimed exactly where we need it. It is also possible to limit the field of view of the sensor using the sticker included in the package. This allows you, for example, to prevent the sensor from recording movement on the sidewalk in front of the house.
The sensor setting is possible both horizontally (180 degrees) and vertically (90 degrees).

However, the uniqueness of this sensor is just beginning here. This sensor is powered directly by 230V, making power no problem. This also relieves you of the need to replace the battery every few years.

When producing this sensor, STEINEL decided to go a little further and built a relay for switching the light directly into the sensor. Thanks to this, this sensor can also be used as a standalone sensor for lighting control. Thus, after connecting the light to this relay, it is possible to set the switching time and light intensity directly on the underside of the sensor when the relay switches.

But of course, after connecting to the Z-Wave controller, there are many more possibilities. This sensor can be used in three modes. However, the most usable mode is when we have the motion sensor and the relay completely separated and we can set what happens when in the system. In this mode, the controls on the bottom of the sensor are irrelevant, as everything is handled by scenes.

So if we break it down correctly, for the given price, the sensor offers high German quality, a wide angle of view, and an ON/OFF relay. Although the price of the sensor is higher than the price of a standard Z-Wave sensor, after adding up these two devices (sensor approx. €65 and relay approx. €69), we see that at the given price, this sensor has a lot to offer.

Summary:

This sensor offers truly the highest quality in its class. Excellent field of view, quality workmanship and built-in Z-Wave relay together with direct 230V power supply predetermines it for use in front of the entrance to every Smart Home. This is also possible thanks to IP54 protection.
