FIBARO Bypass 2 (FGB-002) – Stop LED Flickering

The Bypass 2 is a crucial complementary accessory specifically designed for the FIBARO Dimmer 2 (FGD-212). It is primarily required in 2-wire installations (where there is no neutral wire present in the wall switch box) and whenever you are trying to dim light sources with a very low power consumption (under 50W).

When and Why Do You Need the Bypass 2?

Modern energy-efficient LED bulbs and compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) often draw so little power that a smart dimmer cannot properly 'close the circuit' without introducing electrical noise. In reality, this manifests as a turned-off LED bulb glowing faintly, flickering constantly, or failing to dim smoothly.

The FIBARO Bypass 2 is built specifically to cure this phenomenon. It acts as an 'artificial dummy load' that absorbs residual voltage, reducing the minimum load required by the Dimmer 2 to operate flawlessly.

Installation

The Bypass 2 is NOT installed inside the wall box behind the switch alongside the Dimmer. It is installed in parallel directly at the light fixture (inside the ceiling rose, spotlight housing, or false ceiling)—bridged between the Phase (L) and Neutral (N) terminals right next to the bulb. Installation is rapid and permanently eliminates any residual voltage issues.
