Sonoff SNZB-06P - the most affordable presence sensor

Products are without original packaging, fully functional with a full warranty. Included are a sensor, power cable, magnetic stand, screws, and cable holders. Products may show minor signs of use.

This sensor is not a regular motion sensor! It is a presence sensor. This means that in order for this sensor to see you, you don't even have to move a finger. It will detect you even when you are reading, lying still watching TV, or sleeping. The sensor works with microwave waves, and to detect presence, it needs as little as breathing or basic body functions. 

This brings this sensor into a whole new category of automation. You no longer have to worry about the sensor turning off the lights in the living room because you haven't moved on the sofa for a long time. Bathroom automation also becomes seamless. 

This sensor knows about you

Thanks to 5.8GHz microwave detection, this sensor will detect you whether you are moving or simply sitting still. This eliminates the biggest problem that motion sensors have. Since the sensor does not need movement to detect your presence, it will never turn off the lights while you are reading or watching TV again. Unless, of course, you want it to.

If you use home automation in your house, these things are certainly familiar to you. As soon as you have a moment without movement in the room, a countdown to turn off the light begins... Thanks to the presence sensor, this problem is beautifully solved.

Turns on light only when needed

The Sonoff presence sensor also features a built-in light intensity detector. Thanks to this, it knows whether lighting is necessary or not. You can thus set your light automation at the highest level.

Automate your space the way you want

Thanks to the presence sensor, all possibilities are available. For example, when leaving a room, you can dim the light intensity, and if you are gone for 5 minutes, turn the light off completely. Upon arrival, the light immediately turns back on.

Local scenes without cloud

The Sonoff presence sensor is a Zigbee device. This means it connects to a Zigbee hub. This solution is local, which means automation is independent of whether you have internet access or not (depends on the control unit). You don't have to limit yourself and can set up your home just the way it suits you.

Compatibility with Smart Home systems

A huge advantage of this sensor is that it communicates directly via Zigbee. Thanks to this, it is recognized by standard Zigbee hubs, not just Sonoff. You can use this sensor in Amazon Echo systems, SmartThings, but also FIBARO or Home Assistant. The system uses a motion sensor template, so from the perspective of the system you are using, you get basically the same info as with a motion sensor. The difference is that this sensor will report movement even when you aren't moving.

However, this template means that the sensor is recognized even in systems that do not natively support presence sensors. This gives this sensor a real edge over, for example, the Aqara presence sensor, which is Wi-Fi based and requires the Aqara app for setup.

First presence sensor for the FIBARO system

This is really great news. You can also use this sensor in the FIBARO HC3 system (not HC3L), as adding it via Zigbee allows you to do so. When adding the sensor to FIBARO, the mentioned light intensity sensor will not appear in the system, but that is only a minor drawback. The sensor is sufficiently fast, and despite our best efforts to trick it during testing, we failed and the sensor always knew we were there.

Presence sensor for Home Assistant as well

Using ZHA and Zigbee2MQTT, you can easily integrate this sensor into HA too. It is the most affordable way of detecting presence. 

Installation is simple, as always

The Sonoff presence sensor can be installed magnetically, by gluing, or by screwing it in. In the package, you will find a simple magnetic mount that you attach to the wall according to your preference, and then you just insert the sensor into it. 

Thanks to the magnetic mount, you can then point it exactly where you need. This sensor, like other presence sensors, must be constantly powered. This is ensured using a USB-C adapter and cable included in the box. The USB-C 2A power adapter is not included in the package. 

In the package, however, you will also find cable clips so that the installation can be done as neatly as possible without the cable hanging loosely. 

Three sensitivity levels and up to 4 meters range

The sensor can be set to 3 sensitivity levels. This is done simply by double-pressing the button directly on the sensor. After a double press, the sensor flashes 1, 2, or 3 times depending on which level it is in. You can fine-tune the sensitivity so that detection is 2.5m to 4 meters. This setting can also be configured via the eWeLink app.

Difference between a motion sensor and a presence sensor

Let's show on a simple table again what a motion sensor and a presence sensor can detect. It is important to say here that even the best motion sensor in our offer, the Faradite motion sensor, cannot detect motion when you do not move at all. It is great and can see even the slightest movement, but it must be a movement. With the Sonoff presence sensor, you don't have to move at all, you just need to be.
